3. Rigorous Research Leaves No Doubt
There is no doubt: breathing second-hand tobacco smoke is very dangerous
to your health. It causes cancer, as well as many serious respiratory
and cardiovascular diseases in children and adults, often leading to
death. There is no safe level of human exposure to second-hand tobacco
smoke.

4. JUST THE FACTS:

million use illicit drugs and/or misuse prescription drugs.
- Daughters of smoking mothers are more likely to take up the
habit than sons of smoking mothers.
- 70 percent of women who use drugs or alcohol while pregnant
don't tell their doctors.
- 92 percent of women who need treatment for alcohol and drugs do
not get it.

The WHO FCTC is an evidence-based treaty that reaffirms the right of all
people to the highest standard of health. The WHO FCTC represents a
paradigm shift in developing a regulatory strategy to address addictive

asserts the importance of demand reduction strategies as well as supply
issues.
