2.  Teens In Treatment for Prescription Drug Abuse

4.  JUST THE FACTS:  Underage Alcohol Use
 

  • In 2005, about 10.8 million underage persons aged 12 to 20 (28.2 percent) reported drinking alcohol in the past month.

  • In 2006, 3.0 percent of 12th graders reported daily alcohol use. More than 1 percent (1.4 percent) of 10th graders and 0.5 percent of 8th graders reported daily alcohol use.

  • In 2006, 25.4 percent of 12th graders reported having five or more drinks in a row in the last 2 weeks. Twenty-two percent of 10th graders and 10.9 percent of 8th graders reported having five or more drinks in a row in the last 2 weeks.

This poster illustrates the health effects of secondhand smoke. It describes the constituents of secondhand smoke, and shows its effects on the circulatory, respiratory and reproductive systems, and its effects on pregnancy, infancy and childhood. It is based on British Medical Association report Towards Smokefree Public Places, 2002.
