We aim to bring you the latest information on drug abuse prevention for students, parents and professionals.  If you do not find this information useful or your name was entered on our list in error just follow the instructions at the bottom of the newsletter to be taken off this list.

If you have a list or an organization feel free to forward this newsletter in whole or any part or share the list with us and we will share the news with them.  It does no good until it gets read.

If you would like to help the kids in your community check out our web site at http://rundrugsoutoftownrun.org and consider

1.  Protecting You/Protecting Me®

Protecting You/Protecting Me® (PY/PM®) is an alcohol use prevention curriculum for children in grades 1-5. It is designated as a Model Program by SAMHSA, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

PY/PM helps reach children before they have fully shaped their attitudes and opinions about alcohol use by youth and their role in preventing it. The curriculum focuses on the effects of alcohol on the developing brain during the first 21 years of life.

3.  Great Start

Did you know that smoking during or after pregnancy has been linked to one in 10 infant deaths? Each year more than 350,000 American women smoke during pregnancy. Many of these women want to quit and would if they got help.

For pregnant women who want to quit smoking, the Great Start quit line provides free counseling to help women quit and stay quit after their babies are born.
