2.  Adam Bergman Takes Responsibility for His Actions

Some athletes will stop at nothing to avoid taking personal responsibility for their actions.

Why is it that some athletes seem unable to own up to their actions? It’s hard, that’s why. It is hard to step up and admit that you made a mistake. It’s also hard to accept the consequences for a mistake. In the short-term, taking shortcuts may be easier than doing the right thing.

3.  Digital Technology 101 for Patents

Digital Technology 101 offers guidance and advice on how to monitor some of the most popular communication tools used by teens today. You may have heard about them on television news or relented to your teen’s wishes to buy the latest and greatest gadgets. 5.  U.S. Cigarette Sales Reach Lowest Point in More Than 50 Years

Cigarette sales in the United States have reached the lowest point since 1951,according to data compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The number of cigarettes sold in the U.S. rose steadily from 375 billion in 1950 to a peak of 640 billion in 1981, then declined to 485 billion in 1993. 6.  Secondhand Smoke May Increase Risk of Spontaneous Abortion In Nonsmoking Pregnant Women

A new study published in Epidemiology found that nonsmoking pregnant women exposed to secondhand smoke may be at an increased risk of spontaneous abortion. (See abstract and link to article below.) Smokefree advocates and educators are encouraged to keep this new finding in mind when framing the smokefree issue around worker health and the need to protect not only the immediate worker but also future generations from the dangers posed by secondhand smoke.

Risk of spontaneous abortion now joins SIDS, pre-term delivery, low birth weight, multi-generational health effects, and other ailments caused by in-utero exposure to secondhand smoke.

The report, entitled "Environmental Tobacco Smoke and Risk of Spontaneous Abortion" (Volume Publish Ahead of Print() July 10, 2006, Epidemiology, 2006-07-10) may be downloaded at
