Help
Wanted,
Teenagers know how difficult it is to get a meaningful job without experience. It's that age old paradox, you can't get a job without experience and you can't get experience without a job. With The Run you can get that work experience that employers and college recruiters are looking for.
What most teens don't realize is that they do have lots of experience it just seems like they are lacking in that area because they are competing for jobs where others have more work experience. To see just what that means go to a playground and watch some toddlers at play. They have only a few basic skills, most are still trying to master walking. Then watch what happens when some five and six year olds run by and climb up onto the slide. Toddlers want to be just like them and climb all the way to the top of that ladder even if they lack the skills to do so.
Don't go away just yet. Now look around for a couple of eight and nine year olds. They will run through with speed the little ones can only fantasize about and climb right to the top of the jungle gym in seconds. The five and six year olds will look at them the same way the toddlers watched them climb the slide. In each case the goals have been set to someday be as big and fast and as good as the older kids.
Then there are the teens. Not old enough to be adults not really young enough to be kids, but definitely experienced enough for younger kids to learn by their example. That experience is an asset upon which you can build more meaningful experiences that will open more doors in the work place and impress college recruiters.
Volunteering is one area that any teen can learn the important lessons needed to move ahead in the world. This experience can be so meaningful that one large employer has said that they put more weight on an applicantion with volunteer experience.
The Run Drugs Out of Town Run needs your help in staging an event in your area. Everyone who works to put and event together will be in a leadership position something that will look good on a resume or letter of reference. We will show you how to go about setting up an event, inviting kids from your old elementary school and teens from your middle or high school and we will give you the tools to make it a success.
